The story of Zainab Isa and her saffron

In the heart of Ramshtik village, among the gentle slopes of Qain city, lives Zainab Isa, a resilient 38-year-old woman. Known for her commitment to saffron and barberry farming, Zainab’s days begin long before the sun graces the horizon, a routine she has maintained for years.

Eight years ago, when Zainab’s husband fell ill, life took an unexpected turn. A heavy burden fell on her shoulders, caring not only for her sick husband, but also for her 11-year-old daughter and 5-year-old son. Despite these challenges, Zainab faced each day with unwavering strength and determination to provide for her family.

In the quiet spell of Rameshtik village with a population of around 300, Zainab works with the utmost care on her saffron fields. Here, the rich soil produces some of the world’s finest saffron, a treasure that draws visitors from near and far during the enchanting saffron season.

For Zainab, farming is more than a livelihood. It is a passion rooted in tradition and love for the land. He diligently applies organic fertilizers and animal manure and uses sustainable practices that ensure the purity of his products.

Despite the trials that life has thrown her way, Zainab remains hopeful. She dreams of a day when her husband will regain his health and their family will flourish again. In the calm mornings of Ramshtik, before the world wakes up, Zainab and her compatriots start the delicate work of harvesting saffron. These moments captured in photos tell a story of persistence and determination that fascinates tourists year after year.
