Marente Lokin is a board member of Den Food Bosch, a pioneering food forest near ’s-Hertogenbosch. She guides visitors through the principles of food forestry, explaining how each layer – from tall canopy trees to fruit trees, bushes, herbs, soil, and water -works together to create a balanced ecosystem.
During a visit on July 29, 2025, she introduced Mo and his daughter Afra to the forest’s diversity. They collected fresh samples, which Afra enjoyed tasting on the spot, and received dried samples for testing in future blends. We also shared ideas for a long-term project: building a database of botanicals cultivated by regenerative farmers across the Netherlands.
Through her work, Marente helps demonstrate how regenerative practices can nourish both people and the land.
